Multivitamin Tests: A Comprehensive Comparison for Essential Nutrition

Tonic vs Centrum Multivitamin

Selecting the right multivitamin supplement is crucial for maintaining optimal health and covering all essential nutrition basis. This review compares Tonic Health Multivitamin Gummies with Centrum Multivitamin Tablets, two popular choices in the realm of adult nutritional supplements. We'll delve into their ingredients, benefits, and suitability to help you make an informed decision and understand the truth behind the label.

Centrum Multivitamin

The Good:

  1. Broad Nutrient Range: Centrum tablets are known for their extensive range of vitamins and minerals. They include 26 vitamins and minerals but arguably only 14 are in doses sufficient enough to prevent you getting a defficiency in that nutrient.

  2. World’s Number 1: Centrum's claim that their multi is the most bought worldwide and whilst this ensures it’s safe, it doesn’t necessarily mean much more than that.

  3. Magnesium: The addition of this mineral isn’t something you see all the time and we like it. Most people don’t get enough magnesium and it’s responsible for so many functions in the body.

The Bad:

  1. Additives: Before you get to your vitamins, you unfortunately have 3x bulking agents (E 460, E 464, E 1200). They then swiftly follow this with a stabiliser (E 1202), a Emulsifier: E 470b, and Anticaking agents (E 551, E 553b) and finally dusted off with a sprinkle of artificial colours (E 171, E 132).

  2. Absorption: With the cocktail of additives above and the compression techniques used in tablet formation, it is likely that the absorption rate of these tablets will we around 30-40%. Tablets have a habit of poor absorption in the gut and this will be no different.

The Test:

We took these for 8 weeks to see if we could notice a difference and unfortuantely there was not a lot to report. While this is subjective and everyone can have a difference experience, we are worried by that absorption rate that could make this largely ineffective. We give the World’s number 1 vitamin a dissapointing 5/10.

Tonic Health Multivitamin Gummy

The Good:

  1. Broad Spectrum of Vitamins: Tonic multivitamin gummies provide a wide range of 14 essential vitamins, including A, C, D, E, and a B-vitamin complex, supporting good overall health and energy levels.

  2. No Sugar or Sweetener: Tonic emphasize natural ingredients and clean label ingredients, so you won’t find sugar or artificial sweetener in these gummies. The base is just made out of beetroot fibre which is a good prebiotic.

  3. Max Strength: Tonic Multivitamin Gummies have good doses of vitamins to support your essential nutrient needs. While most gummies tend to be low dose, these Tonic Gummies actually provide good doses to cover all your bases and ensure optimal health.

The Bad:

  1. A litte more expensive: At £16 per month this is more expensive than a tablet but quite comparable to other gummies. As we always say, you do get what you pay for and in this case - good nutrition is an investment worth making.

Taste Test:

Now, these wild berry flavour gummies are a fruity delight. Berry flavoured to leave you wanting more and at danger of exceeding the reccomended intake. After taking for 2 months, we noticed better energy levels and that additional fibre was great for…well you know what. We score this a high 9/10.

THE CONCLUSION:

  • Nutritional Profile: Both products offer a wide range of essential vitamins and minerals. However, Tonic tends to have higher concentrations of certain nutrients, making it suitable for those with greater nutritional needs.

  • Form and Ease of Use: The gummy form of Tonic Health is more user-friendly, especially for those who prefer not to swallow pills… and did we say delicious. Centrum's tablet form is more traditional and suits those accustomed to taking pills.

  • Taste and Accessibility: Tonic Health Gummies are naturally flavoured and easier to consume due to their chewable nature, which helps with the absorption rates too (compared to tablets).

Conclusion: The choice between Tonic Health Multivitamin Gummies and Centrum Multivitamin Tablets depends on individual preferences and nutritional requirements. If you prefer a tasty, chewable form with a broad spectrum of nutrients, Tonic Health is a great choice. However, if you prefer the traditional route and are comfortable with swallowing pills, Centrum Tablets offer a budget friendly option.
